Description |
Two constructed plywood display towers, one tower 3' x 3' x 4' by 8' tall at the highest point; second tower 3' x 3' x 3' by 8'tall at the highest point. Also, one connecting flat panel assembly. Designed by Donlyn Lyndon for the Placewares Gallery in Gualala operated by Maynard and Lu Lyndon. Constructed by Philip Barlow from 4x8 Europly sheets. Some surfaces painted, others left natural. Per Donlyn Lyndon in an email of April 9, 2019, "As you will note from Maynard's photographs these were designed specifically to hold objects, drawings and photographs for the Placewares Gallery that Lu and Maynard had created, owned and curated for many years and they also were used when they and Alice Wingwall and I were having a show at Gualala Arts. They work well for that. As you may have noted, they also were designed with the proximity of The Sea Ranch in mind. Their pitched roofs and strategically placed openings were related to building forms that we had used at The Sea Ranch. I would not have designed them the same way somewhere else." |
