Text of emailed TSRA Info Info Alert of July 5, 2018: Dear Members of The Sea Ranch Association, The Sea Ranch Forum will present: "Reverdy Johnson, Sea Ranch Founder: In Conversation with Frank Bell and Lisa Dundee" Saturday, July 7, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Del Mar Center Hall Johnson is the author of "A Declaration of Restrictions, Covenants and Conditions" (commonly called the CC&Rs) which is the "constitution" that every owner agrees to abide by when purchasing property on The Sea Ranch. Back in 1964 real estate developer Al Boeke put together a collaborative team to plan and build The Sea Ranch. Boeke included experts in architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, ecology, and graphic design. A key member of this team was Reverdy Johnson, the lawyer who would be challenged with writing the rules that would eventually govern the innovative community. At the July 7 Sea Ranch Forum, Johnson will discuss how he managed this feat in an informal exchange with Sea Ranch Community Manager Frank Bell and Lisa Dundee, the Executive Director of Design, Compliance & Environmental Management. Both Bell and Dundee work within these rules on a daily basis and will provide insights on how the document has worked over time. Johnson received special recognition from The Sea Ranch Association in 2008 for his work in crafting the CC&R’s. The award commended him for "translating the vision of the founders into a legal document that has stood the test of time." The July Forum was organized by The Sea Ranch Vision Committee and will be introduced by architectural historian Christine Kreyling. |
