Interview with Ed Ohlson by Annette Parks, printed in the Ridge Review, Fall 1983 issue, pages 36-38. Ohlson describes growng up In Annapolis. He and his brothers (Ernie, Elmer and Chester) bought the Del Mar Ranch from an estate sale in 1941, after the death of Walter P. Frick. He mentions that Frick had come to the area in 1906 as an agent fror Wheeler Timber, and that Frick bought a large portion of the Wheeler land holdings "all the way back to Reservation Hill and including what became Del Mar Ranch." After selling their land to Castle and Cook Enterprises for three million dollars in the 1960's, Ed Ohson continued to live at Del Mar because he kept a Life Estate. |
