At the celebration for the burying of the Millenium Time Capsule on May 26, 2001, there was a children's part of the program. MC Dick Halley announced the children's program, saying, "We feel strongly that our history is going to be handed to the next generation." Eleven youngsters expressed an interest in being present when the capsule is unearthed in 50 years, and each of them received a certificate to commemorate their presence. Halley introduced Lindsay Lagreid, aged 10, who spoke warmly of her experience as a "Junior Barnie." She said, "I hope my kids will come to the Barn and meet retired teachers, scientists, engineers, pilots and other interesting warmhearted and involved people." Then, in a clear, true voice, Lindsay sang a song she had composed for the occasion. |
